Virginie Virad has been the creative director for the luxury fashion house Chanel and was deemed as unpopular among the brand’s lovers. She has been contributing to the world of fashion for the last few decades. However, will this be a new chapter for the brand?

According to Dazed, Virginie Viard, the artistic director who succeeded Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, is leaving the fashion house after a 30-year tenure. Viard, known for her close work with Lagerfeld and innovative runway shows, has been a key figure in maintaining Chanel’s legacy.

Her departure raises speculation about her successor, with names like Hedi Slimane and Simon Porte Jacquemus being mentioned.

Chanel acknowledges Viard’s significant impact on the brand’s fashion and creative direction and is set to announce a new creative structure soon. Viard’s final show, the 2025 Cruise in Marseille, was marked by unfortunate weather, mirroring the bittersweet nature of her exit.

Luxury YouTuber, Super Dacob mentions that the brand informed him of her departure. They informed the luxury expert earlier as told by the YouTuber. He is arguably one of the most respected fashion journalists of our current generation.

Additionally, he speculates that the brand may have gotten a new director hence she is able to step down. We will know who the new director is as soon as the same happened to Gucci a few years ago when Alessandro Michelle stepped down.

Speculations on Chanel’s future

Unfortunately for Gucci, their new creative director is not currently helping the brand capture the “quiet luxury” market. There are other speculations that the brand Gucci is trying to elevate themselves to a higher level than they were before.

However, the hopes for Chanel to have a new innovative design may come through with a new director. But whether the potential new style will be a hit with the couture house is another speculation.
