The CMAG 2023 meeting discussed issues of mutual interest, the situation various member states of the Commonwealth and the status of admission applications reinstate Zimbabwe as a member of the Commonwealth.
“I have emphasized that it is not appropriate for a ‘one size fits all’ approach used in encouraging countries to adopt democratic principles, the rule of law and in promoting and protecting human rights humans. Malaysia is also ready to provide technical assistance to Commonwealth countries in need,” says Zambry in a media statement on his intervention at the CMAG 2023.
Zambry met his counterparts, Ali Sabry from Sri Lanka and Abdulla Shahid from the Maldives during his three-day working visit to London.
Good Relations
Zambry in a statement, said in his meeting with Ali, they agreed in an effort to continue to improve the good relations between the two countries that have been established for a long time and believe there are still many opportunities and room for improvement especially in the investment aspect.
“According to him (Ali), Malaysia is one of the main contributors to the development of the telecommunications sector in Sri Lanka,” says Zambry.
There are many more areas of new investment that can be jointly explored in Sri Lanka such as port development, the hospitality industry and the petroleum refining industry and that matter will continue to be refined through the Bilateral Negotiation mechanism between Malaysia and Sri Lanka, says Zambry.
