The eternal game played by political parties
The DAP wing urged Anwar to dissolve Parliament immediately and hold a concurrent 16th General Election (GE16) nationwide to let Malaysians make a final decision.
The public spat between DAP Youth (DAPSY) and Umno Youth represents a severe challenge to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Madani administration, threatening the unity government's fragile political stability.
The long-running friction escalated when DAPSY lashed out at Umno for deciding to contest the Johor state elections alone, without Pakatan Harapan (PH). Reminding Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders that PH’s strategic backing kept them relevant after their 2022 defeat, DAPSY accused sections of Umno of being "backstabbers" and destabilizing the coalition.
In a dramatic escalation, the DAP wing urged Anwar to dissolve Parliament immediately and hold a concurrent 16th General Election (GE16) nationwide to let Malaysians make a final decision.
Instead of cooling things down, fiery Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh challenged DAP Youth to withdraw support from BN-led state governments in Perak and Pahang if they are serious about testing their political strength.
Responding to accusations of ingratitude, Akmal countered that PH would not have formed the federal government without BN's backing. “Don’t just talk about pushing to dissolve Parliament... Let us fight in a gentlemanly manner and return the mandate to the people. Bring it on,” Akmal stated.
