The rise of the plus-size influencers have diluted the awareness of obesity among Americans. Furthermore, a plus sized woman complained on TikTok regarding her doctor’s instructions to lose weight instead of investigating further on her problem. She suggested a Grey’s Anatomy reference which the doctor refused to listen to.

The Washington Examiner states, the “body positivity” movement, which promotes obesity as beautiful and healthy, has faced recent tragedies that underscore its potential dangers. Influencers who championed obesity have tragically died at a young age.

Brittany Sauer, an obese influencer, passed away at 28 due to severe health issues related to her weight. Taylor LeJeune, another TikTok influencer, died from a presumed heart attack. “Fat studies” professor Cat Pause, who questioned whether obesity was unhealthy, also passed away.

These losses highlight the need to challenge the movement’s viral success. While we can’t definitively attribute their deaths to obesity, it likely played a role.

Obesity-related health problems remain a significant concern, impacting life expectancy and contributing to preventable deaths.

Furthermore, X users state that there are some woke doctors that would indeed lie to their patients regarding this problem. However, there are some who are still professional and would instead tell their patients to lose their weight instead of focusing on other methods to deal with their problems.

Others state that the term “fatphobia” is coined by plus-sized people to defend themselves from losing weight. Some state that they are fine with someone being overweight but they won’t pretend that it is healthy.
