North Korea Sends Troops to Support Russia in Ukraine War and this could trigger WW3
North Korea’s support marks a significant escalation, signalling third-party military involvement in the conflict. This could be used by the West for deeper involvement of their troops in Ukraine. Is WW3 on the horizon?

According to David Axe, an American correspondent for The Telegraph, North Korea has begun sending troops to support Russia in its ongoing war with Ukraine. Between October 8 and 13, seven Russian ships transported 1,500 North Korean special forces soldiers from North Korea to Vladivostok, Russia. These soldiers are the first of a potential 11,000-strong force that could soon bolster Russia’s struggling military effort in Ukraine, where it has been suffering heavy casualties.
North Korea’s support marks a significant escalation, signaling third-party military involvement in the conflict. Previously, North Korea had covertly provided Russia with artillery ammunition, ballistic missiles, and anti-tank vehicles.

Now, the addition of troops is addressing one of Russia’s biggest wartime issues—a growing manpower shortage, with Russian forces losing over 1,000 troops daily and struggling to replace them. The 1,500 North Korean soldiers, with 9,500 more expected to follow, may not fight directly on the frontlines, but their presence will free up Russian soldiers to do so.
This move also raises concerns that South Korea might increase its own involvement in the war, particularly after describing North Korea’s support for Russia as a “grave security threat.” While South Korea has provided humanitarian aid and indirectly sold artillery shells to Ukraine via the U.S., direct military support may now be on the table.
With global tensions rising and foreign support for Ukraine wavering, North Korea’s involvement could draw more nations into the conflict, escalating it into a broader international war or one that will be classified as World War 3.
