A Singaporean man, Idris Ami, 60, was charged at the Negeri Sembilan Syariah High Court today for teaching false religious doctrines, claiming to be a Prophet and possessing the Holy Spirit. Idris, a forklift driver in Singapore, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read by Syarie Judge Zulfikri Yasoa.
The first charge alleged that Idris taught false doctrines to two men, aged 42 and 46, claiming to be a Prophet for this era, which contradicts Islamic law. The second charge stated that he taught similar false teachings to the same individuals. The offenses occurred between 11 p.m. on October 6 and 8 last year, in Kampung Sungai Dua Besar, Kuala Pilah.

Idris is charged under Section 52 of the Syariah Criminal Enactment of Negeri Sembilan 1992, amended in 2019. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to RM5,000, imprisonment for up to three years, or both.
Syarie Prosecutor Ahmad Wafi Abdullah requested that no bail be granted, expressing concern that Idris might flee the country, complicating the trial. The judge set a bail bond of RM8,000 with four Malaysian guarantors from Negeri Sembilan and prohibited Idris from leaving the country. The case is set for trial on November 19. A 42-year-old local woman linked to Idris was released on a RM4,000 bail.
