Trump Targets Harris with Scathing Remarks as Campaign Battle Heats Up
The memo highlighted how Trump plans to capitalize on Harris’s vulnerabilities, particularly her tenure as the “border czar,” a role for which she has faced criticism amid the ongoing border crisis.
In a fiery post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her “dumb as a rock.”
This marks a shift in Trump’s campaign strategy from targeting President Joe Biden to focusing on Harris, who has recently gained significant support from Democratic leaders and donors following Biden’s decision to suspend his campaign.
Scathing Trump
“Wow, just watching the Fake News, and they’re doing their very best to turn the Worst President in the History of our Country into a ‘Brilliant and Heroic Leader’ (He was heroic because he quit!), and to turn ‘Dumb as a Rock’ Kamala Harris from a failed and insignificant Vice President into a future ‘Great’ President,” Trump wrote. “No, it just doesn’t work that way!”
Shortly after Trump's post, a new memo circulated by senior campaign advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles detailed the former president’s strategy to challenge Harris. The memo highlighted how Trump plans to capitalize on Harris’s vulnerabilities, particularly her tenure as the “border czar,” a role for which she has faced criticism amid the ongoing border crisis.
“Just as Donald Trump fired Joe Biden, he will demonstrate to the world he can fire Dangerously liberal Kamala as well,” the memo reads.
Trump’s advisors were particularly scathing in their critique of Harris’s record on immigration, accusing her of being responsible for what they termed a “border invasion” that has seen nearly 100 terrorists enter the United States and led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans due to fentanyl. They also linked her to a surge in child trafficking and violent crimes, echoing Trump’s frequent rallying cries about the dangers of migrant crime.
Fierce Battle Ahead
Despite these accusations, recent data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shows a nuanced picture. While 2023 saw a record high of over 250,000 migrant encounters, the numbers have begun to decrease, with June seeing a 23% drop in crossings. Additionally, a recent executive order signed by the Biden administration aims to tighten border control further.
According to CBP, agents have encountered 94 migrants on the Terrorist Screening Dataset. The memo also accused Harris of allowing released migrants to commit violent crimes, referencing the tragic murder of Georgia college student Laken Riley.
The memo claimed Trump is leading Harris in various polls. A HarrisX/Forbes poll conducted just before Biden’s exit showed Trump with a nine-point lead. The memo also mentioned unspecified Democratic polls indicating Trump’s advantage in key swing states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin. However, recent Morning Consult polling revealed a tighter race, with Harris trailing Trump by only two points. A Quinnipiac University poll found the contest too close to call, with Trump at 49% and Harris at 47%.
As the campaign trail heats up, Trump’s attacks signal an intense and combative race ahead, with Harris now firmly in his sights. The upcoming months promise a fierce battle as both sides gear up for what is shaping up to be a highly contentious election.
