Johor crash kills five; activist Siti Kasim rejects racial framing, urging justice for victims beyond race or wealth.
JOHOR BARU, June 5 — Police have arrested a 19‑year‑old man after a five‑vehicle crash in Kluang killed five people, including a family of four. His 22‑year‑old brother, driving a BMW, lost control and collided with several cars before plunging into a ravine. The elder brother died along with the family victims, while two children remain hospitalized. Urine tests on the younger brother were negative for drugs.
The tragedy has ignited heated debate online. Activist Siti Kasim condemned racialized reactions after some netizens, including Bitcoin Malaya, framed the crash as a “Chinese vs Malay” issue and called for harsher penalties.
Racial Debate
Kasim stressed the matter is about reckless driving and justice, not race, rebuking claims that wealth or ethnicity should influence legal outcomes. She urged Malaysians to unite in demanding justice for victims regardless of background, emphasizing that accountability must remain equal under the law.
